SMILE- STRIKING BENEFITS

“Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing”- Mother Teresa.
Smile is a beautiful thing and the benefits that come with it are quite striking. By the time you are done reading this piece you will see reasons to smile every second of the day.

It is an unspoken rule that when someone smiles at you you just have to smile back at him which is why we often say that smile is contagious.

I remember walking into the reception of a certain company few weeks ago. Excitedly, I opened the door only to be welcomed by silent frowns. The frowns were like a bad smell in a small room.
I walked up to the receptionist with an effusive smile. Her face lighted up and in no time she contaminated the other people in the room with her smile.

Smile is the magic to a happy life no matter the prevailing circumstances. When you smile it drowns out every fear and worry in your life. This is partly how beautiful smile could be and like Anthony J. D’Angelo would put it: “Smile is the key that fits the lock of everybody’s heart.” By smiling you’re not only making your life brighter and vibrant, you also radiate the lives of the people around you.

According to a certain study published in the Journal Psychological Science by The University of Kansas psychologists, smile helps to reduce stress. They explained that when you smile your brain gets the signal that you are good with yourself and this triggers off the release of a hormone called endorphins which is responsible for happy moods. When the hormones are released, your heart rate relaxes and your mood is boosted.

The secret to living a long and healthy life is hidden in your smile. A research has shown that people who smile more often live longer than those who don’t. When you smile, your heartbeat calms down and your stress level reduces and this increases your life span, strengthens your immune system, makes you look younger and more attractive.

Smile is indeed a beautiful thing and a gift which you must not keep to yourself alone. When you see someone without a smile, give him some.

How often do you smile?
Between men and women who do you think smile most often and why?

Have yourself a smile-filled day!
